The number one reason people fail to reach their fitness Goals, is exactly that. Having an actual clear Goal. Having a Clear goal will help you reach success in your journey, help motivate, and prevent failure.
Here’s what you need to know…
- Having a Clear Goal provides you with a Milestone in your journey.
- Writing Down your goal, will remind of you of where you are going and improve probability of success.
- Tracking progress towards your goal and having an accountability partner will hold you accountable for your progress.
- Success is a Process, not an Event.
The Importance of a Goal.
Most of us say we have Goals, but do not truly hold ourselves accountable for the Goals we have. Commit to a goal, and write it down everyday. For better effect do this twice a day. This will remind you of your commitment.
Each day Track Progress and set milestones to ensure that you are making movement towards where it is you want to be.
Writing Down your Goal.
When we write down our goals at the start and end of each day, we are constantly reminded of our commitment. If we fall of track and we are honest with ourselves, we will quickly refocus and work towards our Goals.
If we don’t, we will feel pretty foolish writing down our goals as it will become a waste of time.
Writing down your goal is your true North Star. Each day you should ask yourself, what am I doing to make myself one step closer to reaching my goal?
In 2008, Dr. Gail Matthews of the Dominican University of California, recruited 267 participants from a wide range of professions (lawyers, accountants, nonprofit employees, marketers, etc.) and a variety of countries. Those who wrote down their goals, were 39.5 percent more likely to accomplish them.
Writing down goals, and daily priorities is how you can live your life by priority.
Tracking Progress.
To ensure motivation, you should be monitoring progress. Each day you should be taking one step forward at the least. This one step will amount to a lot in the long run. You will see success making small steps towards big goals. Those who try to take big steps, ultimately overwhelm themselves and give up.
Once you see progress, you will be able to set a timeline. This timeline will gauge to see how long it will take to reach your goal. If you keep steady progress to reach your destination, you may reach your destination much faster than you had thought!
To spice things up, you can even see what else you can learn to help make even more improvements. There always is a better approach if you commit to Mastery of your journey.
If you do not see any progress, it would be wrong to keep doing what you have been. If you do not make movement towards your goals, it would be wise to evaluate what you currently are doing, and make changes to allow further progress.
Tracking progress ensures that if you hit a wall, it will not be for long as you will be constantly learning, and committing to moving forward.
Remember, as you move forward things will become potentially more difficult. If you do what you always did, you will have what you always have. Progress will require commitment to improving your approach and working harder and smarter than the previous YOU!
Success is not an Event
Reaching your goals will require the commitment to a Process. Success is not something that happens to you, most of us never reach our goals in our lifetime because we fail to commit to a process. Small improvements over time add up very fast, in comparison to no provements at all over time.
Surprise yourself and begin your Journey!
Tony Robbins has often said: “We Overestimate what we can do in a year, and Underestimate what we can do in a Decade”
Commit to the long term, and you will not be disappointed.
