Exercise is Medicine. “There is no pill that comes close to what Exercise can do”, says Claude Bouchard. Director of human genomics laboratory at Pennington Biomedical Research Centre, Louisiana. In today’s busy world, the start to the day can be very stressful. We often have overwhelming schedules which leave little time for ourselves.
First we find ourselves rushing out of bed in the morning, so that we are not late for work. Second we skip breakfast so that we can enjoy the last bit of extra-sleep. We skip breakfast so that we don’t add more to our already full schedule of responsibilities, any more to do and it would be overwhelming.
Because of how we start our morning’s we are exhausted, and drink coffee for energy. Without coffee the day is a struggle, we don’t think that there is possibly a better solution. The truth is it doesn’t have to be like this. Starting our morning’s off feeling great, and energized is a possibility.
Here’s what you need to know about incorporating regular exercise into your morning rituals…
- Starting the day with exercise steers you towards success.
- Motion creates emotion.
- Exercise improves mood and reduces stress levels.
- Movement improves the quality of your sleep.
- Beginning the day with exercise signifigantly improves your health.
Starting the day with exercise steers you towards success.
It has been said that the First hour of the Day is the rudder of the day. Similar to the Rudder of a boat, our morning guides productivity. With limited time and overwhelming responsibility, we often have to choose carefully what we do to start our day. These choices we make, often determine our daily outcome.
The benefits exercise have to offer, make it the Perfect miracle drug to add to your Morning Routine. Especially for those looking for a Boost of energy, focus, and looking to improve their mood. Poor Health habits can be very debilitating, and rob personal energy. The ability to function, and focus are directly related to Healthy Lifestyle Habits. Starting the day off with Exercise and a good breakfast can transform your day. You can complete absolutely nothing else in your day, and still feel absolutely amazing. To add to this, you will feel energized and focused!
Why not work out at Night?
The number one excuse people have is they do not have the time to work out. Either that… Or they do not have the Willpower.
We begin our Day with a limited amount of Willpower. As the day goes on it drains. If you lead a busy life and have a demanding career, it is easy for you to be too tired later in the day. It is also easy for something to come up.
Starting the day off with exercise is a simple jumpstart to the day.
Motion Creates “Emotion”
Starting the day with movement gets blood flowing to the brain. This gets you ready to take on any challenge, knocking a simple “small win” off the goals list. Once you’ve completed one task, and gotten a workout out of the way; Completing the next task in the day is easy. By Simply Changing the way you wake up in the morning and adding an exercise routine in, you can transform your life. The added short term, and long term benefits are hard to argue with.
Not to mention, exercise dramatically improves brain function, and aids the Brain’s ability to focus, remember, visualize, plan, and solve problems. This occurs because, exercising increases heart rate and dilates blood vessels, helping more blood get around our body – and crucially to our brain.
Stick with exercise and make it part of your healthy lifestyle. Long term studies show that exercise is currently, the best way to keep the brain sharp into old age.
Exercise Improves Mood and reduces Stress levels.
Starting the day off with exercise improves mood, and motivates you to control the outcome of your day. Aerobic exercise specifically is key for mental health, as it has the unique ability to fight depression, and relieve stress. Those who engage in regular physical activity can be a testament to these benefits. When you exercise neurochemical effects occur within the brain. These effects cause the body to reduce the level of stress hormones, and produce endorphins such as serotonin (a natural antidepressant).
In addition to these benefits in mood, and reduced stress levels… when engaging in physical activity, you are provided with temporary solitude. You are given time to yourself, to reflect and relax. When the body is busy, your mind will be distracted from everything going on. You may even have great ideas come to mind as repetitive movement stimulates the brain!
Movement improves the quality of your sleep.
People who exercise tend to fall asleep much quicker and have a better quality of sleep, improving the body’s ability to recover. A 2013 Study from the National Sleep Foundation found that people who self-identify as regular, vigorous exercisers got better sleep than their sedentary peers. While nearly half of the non-exercisers reported difficulty having quality sleep.
By becoming stronger and more functional, the body’s ability to get through the day is no longer hindered. Aches and pains are reduced improving the body’s ability to sit still and be comfortable, and joints more flexible preventing aches and pains from causing distraction.
Beginning the day with exercise significantly improves your health.
Becoming more active increases your metabolism, increases insulin sensitivity, and improves the body’s ability to readily use fat stores for energy during physical activity. When we are in better shape, our resting heart rate eventually lowers, as with blood pressure, as the heart grows more efficient at pumping blood. The benefits of lower blood pressure are many, including reduced risk for heart disease and heart attack, stroke, vision or memory loss, erectile dysfunction, and more according to the American Heart Association.
It is also well known that maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle can provide positive effects on the immune system. Studies show that physiological changes occur when a person exercises. Cells that promote immunity are circulated throughout the immune system, and they are capable of killing bacteria and virus’. After exercising the body returns these levels to normal, but regular exercise appears to extend the periods of immunity
In Conclusion
We often go about life sacrificing our Health. Staying up late, missing meals, eating poorly, and ignoring physical activity. By doing this we think we will get ahead. Truth is we are cheating ourselves, and robbing personal energy. By taking care of our health, we reach goals faster and improve our quality of life.
Bestselling author Neil Strauss said that “For every hour he spends engaged in physical activity, he will get more than an hour of extra productivity when writing”. If you don’t take care of your body, where will you live? Make the time to exercise, and feel great enjoying the life you create.
